AAEM Announces New Position Statement on Oversight and Management of Emergency Medicine Residency Programs by Contract Management Groups
Milwaukee, WI (PRWEB) September 13, 2017 -- The American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM) announces a new position statement on the oversight and management of emergency medicine residency programs. This position statement was approved at the most recent board of directors meeting, held September 7, 2017.
The statement reads as follows:
"AAEM opposes the oversight and management of emergency medicine residency programs by contract management groups with lay ownership. AAEM is concerned that this arrangement raises significant conflicts of interests between a residency program's educational mission and the contract management group's fiduciary duty to its shareholders."
