AALL Awards 2014 New Product of the Year to Publishing Partners Fastcase and HeinOnline
Washington, DC and Getzville, NY (PRWEB) May 14, 2014 -- The American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) has named publishing partners Fastcase and William S. Hein & Co. as joint winners of its 2014 New Product of the Year Award. AALL is recognizing the partners for integrating the Fastcase and HeinOnline legal research libraries and research tools. The companies will accept the award during the association’s 107th Annual Meeting this July in San Antonio, Texas.
The New Product of the Year award recognizes new legal information products that enhance or improve existing law library services or procedures. It honors the development of innovative products that improve access to legal information, the legal research process, or procedures for technical processing of library materials.
This year, AALL is recognizing the innovation-driven companies for integrating HeinOnline and Fastcase. The partnership combines Hein’s expertise in publishing law journals and historical statutory materials and Fastcase’s experience in publishing American primary law. It offers users of both services a complete, integrated legal research experience. Subscribers to both services can now search law review articles from HeinOnline when conducting research in Fastcase, and can search primary law materials from Fastcase inside HeinOnline.

AALL does not recognize companies for the award every year; in fact, since 2001, the Association has only made 10 New Product awards. In that span, this is the third time Hein has been recognized, having won in 2001 for HeinOnline, and again in 2009 for its Subject Compilations of State Laws. This is the second time Fastcase has been honored, having won in 2010 for developing the first legal research app for smartphones, Fastcase for the iPhone. In the 20-year history of the award, Hein and Fastcase are two of only three companies to win more than once.
