AAM Spearheads Food Drive for Kissimmee Area Food Bank: Collects 13,800 Items in Just Two Weeks
Kissimmee, FL (PRWEB) November 25, 2013 -- AAM, a community management company, is spearheading a “Pack the Pantry” food drive in Poinciana, Florida to benefit St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church Food Pantry in Kissimmee. The outreach includes both AAM staff, as well as residents from two communities that AAM manages, Solivita and Bellalago.
“There are genuinely sufficient resources in the world to ensure that no one, nowhere, at no time, should go hungry,” said Kraig Carmickle, Vice President of Florida operations. “AAM embraces a core value of creating one neighborhood at a time and this is one more example of how we are putting action behind our words,” he noted.
Neighborhoods are competing against one another to collect the most food to donate to the food bank and community association staff is also competing cross-departmentally. In the first two weeks, more than 13,800 items were collected, a 65 percent increase over their efforts one year ago for the same food bank.
A Solivita resident who is leading the cause is Martha Cusimano, who moved to Florida from Pennsylvania five years ago. “We formed a Solivita club called Do Unto Others and in the last four years we have raised $70,000 – half of which goes to St. Rose of Lima Food Pantry and the rest is shared with Habitat for Humanity and two other food pantries,” she said. “We are so appreciative of AAM’s efforts, not only with the food drive, but for giving the pantry a big make over a couple of years ago, providing the volunteers a much better place to do their work. You have no idea how your actions have touched people,” she noted.
