Abbey's Purple Winged Angels Foundation is Launching Soon
(PRWEB) June 07, 2017 -- Abbey’s Purple Winged Angels Foundation is proud to stand beside Boys & Girls Clubs of America; Big Brothers Big Sisters of America; CASA; Children’s Defense Fund; Make-a-Wish Foundation; Ronald McDonald House Charities; Shriners Hospitals for Children; United States Fund for UNICEF; Special Olympics; and Toys for Tots. These organizations, like Abbey’s Foundation, share several common themes: All children are valuable and deserve support; adults are needed to help children build the skills and relationships needed to reach their full potential; and a prosperous nation is dependent on the investment we make in our children.
Abbey’s Purple Winged Angels Foundation’s mission is to build extraordinary kids, who become extraordinary adults and live extraordinary lives.
Abbey’s Purple Winged Angels is the brainchild of Dr. Kim Metcalfe. Dr. Kim views all children as our world’s greatest resource. She Founded Abbey’s Purple Winged Angel’s to globally promote and support building children with positive self-images. “The fact is that children with positive self-images have positive, optimistic thinking- giving them the power to effectively plan, problem solve, and execute the steps necessary to reach their goals,” states Dr. Kim. “I want children to live extraordinary lives, which are lives of their own choosing,” she adds. Primary caretakers (e.g., parents, teachers, family, friends, etc.) of children impact the self-images children build.
Dr. Kim developed the Brain Waving System, which brings together the 16 best, research supported, practices and strategies for adults and youth to use to build positive self-images. Her book: The Brain Waving System- Lets Build Extraordinary Kids is expected to launch in the near future. Currently, Dr. Kim an her team are laying the groundwork for working with foster children and foster parents using the Brain Waving System. Foster children are among the highest groups at risk for poor or negative self-images. Yet, foster families have not received the training or been given the opportunities to implement research supported strategies that really build children’s positive self-images. “Our Foundation is committed to bridging this gap because with 400,000 children in foster care in the USA alone, society cannot afford to lose the potential of these children,” says Dr. Kim.
The Abbeys Angel Foundation is a tribute to the precious life of Dr. Kim’s late daughter, Abigail Elise Metcalfe, who chose to leave this world shortly after her 21st birthday. Dr. Kim wholeheartedly believes that her daughter suffered from a poor self-image- “Abbey did not believe in herself, she did not believe that she was capable of making her life what she wanted it to be- her self-worth and value was only seen through the eyes of a relationship with a man. When she saw that the relationship was possibly over, she chose to end her life.”
“I view losing Abbey as a personal loss but also a loss for society.” As stated by Dennis Sciama, "One never knows from where the next great leap forward will come or from whom." Dr. Kim argues that adults cannot afford to ignore the basic needs of children, and a basic need for children is to view themselves in a positive light, in order to dream, and achieve. Life for all of us who inhabit planet earth is better because of those who dared to dream and those who believed they could make their dreams come true, and consequently took the steps necessary to make dream a reality.
Dr. Kim will be a featured speaker in the World's Most Fabulous People series presented by the Public Speakers Association. The show is on https://zoom.us/j/365698868 ; on the computer.
