ABC News Interviews Anne Buckley-Reen, Education Resources Inc. Faculty Member, on Yoga Therapy in the Classroom
Boston, MA (PRWEB) April 21, 2015 -- This program provides physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech language pathologists, physical therapist assistants, occupational therapist assistants, teachers, and other school based professionals with new strategies and techniques to help children across the autism spectrum succeed in the classroom, and is available through Education Resources Inc.
Used throughout the United States and England since 2008, this highly acclaimed yoga curriculum addresses learning and behavior issues across ages (preschool-high school), stages and levels of ability. This program has been shown to positively impact sensory processing, self regulation, attention, communication, motor planning and performance. Get Ready to Learn ("GRTL") is designed for implementation and adaption across the range of classroom challenges. Challenges addressed include students with physical limitations ranging from mild to severe, autistic spectrum disorders, developmental, learning disabilities and attention and emotional/regulatory issues. Chosen as a PBS "Innovations in Education" program, GRTL has been praised by participating teachers, therapists and administrators, and has yielded strong results.
Barbara Joseph, NYC School Administrator and GRTL program facilitator states:
“The impact of implementing the Get Ready to Learn Program across our entire district with students with significant disabilities ages 3-21 over the past year has had tremendous results in decreasing behaviors that interfere with learning and increasing appropriate behaviors to enhance each student's ability to learn more effectively. At the onset of the program we knew that the daily implementation of this movement program would have a positive impact on student progress but the data is reporting gains beyond our expectations.”
AOTA approved continuing education provider Education Resources Inc. is pleased to offer this course to organizations and school districts that wish to educate their staff on this approach. Please email mboynton(at)educationresourcesinc(dot)com or call 800-487-6530 for details.
