ABC World News Features Lion Brand Yarn Company on “Made in America” Segment with David Muir
New York, NY (PRWEB) December 20, 2013 -- Lion Brand Yarn Company and its retail store, the Lion Brand Yarn Studio were featured on the “Made in America” segment of last night’s World News with Diane Sawyer, because the company offers a selection of American made yarns which could be used to create mittens in support of the US Olympic team, rather than those currently made in China.
In 2012, World News featured a “Made in America” segment exposing that the Ralph Lauren Team USA ceremonial outfits were made in China. The increased attention on this manufacturing gaffe prompted Ralph Lauren to commit to producing American made garments for Team USA in 2014. The ABC World News Report segment showed that the “American made” concept resonates and means something to the people.
Last night’s episode exposed that mittens currently sold by the U.S Olympic Committee as a fundraising tool to support Team USA are made in China – and David Muir reported from the Lion Brand Yarn Studio to explore the idea of sourcing American made yarns for the mittens. Muir interviewed Studio Manager Claire Cromwell, who explained that Lion Brand’s American made Heartland yarn in the “Olympic” blue color would be a perfect substitute for the mittens. One ball retails around $6 and can make two pairs of mittens.
Lion Brand Yarn Company recognizes the importance of having yarns made in America, and continues to work hard on producing more yarn on home terrain. The company currently sells 12 yarn lines made in America including favorites such as Homespun and Hometown USA, with Heartland being the latest addition, and more to come in 2014.
