Academic Historian J. Fred MacDonald Honors 100-year Anniversary of World War I With New Book "The Headlong Fury"
Chicago (PRWEB) July 17, 2014 -- Honoring the centenary of World War I, J. Fred MacDonald’s new book, “The Headlong Fury,” draws readers directly into the massive war that engulfed the world from 1914 to 1918.
“The Headlong Fury” presents the full scope of the war through story, instead of a non-fictional account of major events and casualty figures. MacDonald draws upon his background as an academic historian and his own time in Paris as a Fulbright Senior Research Fellowship to communicate the truths of the war.
The novel’s protagonist is Philip Belmont, a young university professor from California. While studying in Paris, he finds himself sucked into global issues surrounding the First World War. There to study 18th century culture, he ends up conducting spy missions and traveling to multiple countries to assist with foreign affairs.

During Professor Belmont’s travels he confronts the horrors of war in France, as well in Russia immediately after the Russian Revolution, in Cairo and the Arabian Desert on the Near Eastern Front; and in Salonika on the Balkan Front.

About the author
MacDonald is a former Professor of History at Northeastern Illinois University (Chicago) and former President and CEO of MacDonald & Associates historical film archive, now owned by the Library of Congress. He received his Bachelors and Masters of History from University of California, Berkley and his doctorate from UCLA. MacDonald is the winner of a prestigious Fulbright Fellowship which took him to Paris to conduct doctoral research from 1967 to 1968. He is the author of 6 books on US media history and currently resides in Lincolnwood, IL.
