Acclaimed Science Center, Storefront Science, Reinvents Itself as a “Movable Science Feast”
New York, New York (PRWEB) December 17, 2013 -- StoSci On the Go, is piloting a new after-school partnership model with two schools in District 6 in New York City: Muscota New School and PS/IS 278. Both principals, Camille Wallin and Maureen Guido understand the value of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education and are pleased to offer an after-school science program at their sites. Dr. Ardizzone hopes to collaborate with additional schools around the city that need science enrichment. “Schools and after-school programs are realizing the need for more STEM-based programs but few have the expertise to create something. Storefront Science can help!” states Ardizzone. To assist with this, Dr. Ardizzone not only provides after-school programs, but also works with area schools in professional and curriculum development.
Hoping to create a long-lasting STEM initiative for the upper Manhattan community, StoSci On the Go is partnering with the YM&YWHA of Washington Heights and Inwood. "The Y of Washington Heights is so excited to partner with Storefront Science. When I read on DNAinfo that Storefront Science was closing its physical space, the Y seemed like a natural landing spot for StoSci 2.0. After observing Dr. A with kids, I saw that Storefront Science had a talented educator with a unique approach to science learning. The Y is committed to providing our community's youth with interesting and affordable experiences. It was a natural partnership," states Jon Zeftel, Supervisor of Youth Enrichment Programs.
