Accountex Announces Practitioner Excellence and Meridian in Technology Award Programs in Partnership with AccountingWEB
Portland, Maine (PRWEB) June 28, 2016 -- Accountex announced the launch of the Meridian in Technology Awards and the Practitioner Excellence Awards, presented in partnership with AccountingWEB. The new award programs recognize a select few firms, practitioners, and technologies making them one of the most coveted and prestigious awards due to their rarity.
Earlier this month, Accountex launched the User Favorite Awards which are voted on by the users themselves and represents the Accounting Technology Ecosystem. The User Favorite Awards replaced the former Sleeter Awesome Apps and is a result of a cumulative scoring system designed to recognize the leaders of a given category not by how many users, but based on how the users rate the app experience.
The Meridian in Technology Awards in contrast, is a nomination process which is then reviewed and voted on by a distinguished panel of accounting technology experts. There are four categories for the Meridian Awards that a solution provider can be nominated for:

2. Outstanding Partner Program
3. Blue Ocean App
4. The App you SHOULD be Using

The Accountex Practitioner Excellence Awards recognize firms and accounting professionals that display excellence in service to the accounting community. Honorees are helping to shape the profession for the future. The awards are a prestigious recognition for a very small group of professionals who have displayed excellence beyond their peers in a given award category. There are only three awards being given in 2016, all reviewed and chosen by a panel of distinguished and veteran members of the accounting community. Award categories include:
1. Millennial Award
2. Philanthropic Excellence
3. Forward Adopting Firm
The panel of experts that will be reviewing all nominations for the Meridian in Technology and Practitioner Excellence Awards include: Dawn Brolin, Randy Johnston, Donny Shimamoto, Greg LaFollette, Clayton Oates, Doug Sleeter, Stacey Byrne, Andy North, Rick Armstrong, Cindy Schroeder, and Mathew Heggem. The distinguished panel includes thought leaders, recognized visionaries in accounting technology, CPA’s, firm owners, and individuals that educate to help mold the accounting profession.
Award winners will be announced at the 2016 Accountex USA Conference and Expo, and will be featured on AccountingWEB in November. A special newsletter on all the winners will be sent to a database of over 150,000 accounting professionals in addition to featured press throughout the year.
RD Whitney, Executive Director of Accountex, explained how the award programs differentiate themselves: “When we looked at the different awards being given out in the community we saw some holes and wanted to address that.
