Accounting & Financial Women's Alliance Announces Excellence in Accounting and Finance Award Winners
McLean, VA (PRWEB) October 22, 2013 -- The Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance (AFWA) is pleased to announce the winners of the 2013 Excellence in Accounting and Finance Awards. AFWA promotes professional excellence, and each year the organization recognizes individuals who have demonstrated excellence in an array of categories, all of which have influenced others in the profession. The recipients of the 2013 Excellence in Accounting and Finance Awards were recognized today, October 22nd, during the 2013 Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance Annual Conference Awards Luncheon.
“AFWA’s strength and status as a premier organization for women in accounting and finance is due to the excellent leadership and endeavors of our members,” said AFWA President Kate Mulder, CPA. “It was exciting to recognize the contributions the award winners have made to AFWA and to the industry over the past year at our annual conference’s Awards Luncheon today.”
This year’s Excellence in Accounting and Finance Award winners are:
Outstanding Achievement
Kay Gotshall, CPA, Senior Tax Manager, Keiter, CPA
The Outstanding Achievement Award is presented to AFWA members who have set the standard of excellence in their professional lives through leadership, mentoring, and career achievement.
Emerging Leader
Susi Barron, Staff Auditor, Gibson Ruddock Patterson, LLC
The Emerging Leader Award is for AFWA members age 35 or under who have set the standard of excellence in their professional lives through leadership, mentoring, and career achievement.
Excellent Student
Abigail Bumgarner, pursing BA in Accounting, Montana State University – Billings
The Excellent Student Award is for AFWA student members who have set the standard of excellence within their chapter by contributing to activities that further position the chapter, and by extension AFWA, for success.
Outstanding Regional Director of the Year
Diane Lyngstad, CMA, MBA
The Outstanding Regional Director of the Year Award is presented to AFWA regional directors who have demonstrated excellence in chapter communications, national committee participation, and conference attendance.
President’s Award
Christi L. Olsen, CPA
AFWA’s top honor is awarded to a member in recognition of her dedication, vision, and impact.
Presented by AFWA, the 2013 Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance Annual Conference is currently taking place in Indianapolis, Indiana on October 20 – 23. More than 400 professionals from the accounting and finance industries are participating in educational sessions and networking opportunities. This professional development conference offers attendees the opportunity to earn up to 24 hours of CPE credit.
