Accreditation for Cardiovascular Excellence (ACE) Launches Final Videos from the 3-Part Accreditation Series
Washington, DC (PRWEB) December 18, 2013 -- Two additional videos from the 3-Part Accreditation Series about Accreditation for Cardiovascular Excellence (ACE), taped during the 2013 Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) Scientific Sessions in Orlando, FL, will be released this week. The video sessions review the benefits of ACE accreditation justifying the cost of accreditation services to the cardiac cath lab (CCL) from the perspective of physicians who have worked with ACE.
Summarizing the value of the ACE process, Charles E. Chambers, MD, FSCAI, Penn State Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, PA, said, “The beauty of ACE is that it’s based on the expert consensus document of 2012.” ACE provides cardiology experts to validate compliance with these guidelines and consensus documents. Gregory J. Dehmer, MD, FSCAI, Scott & White, Texas A&M College of Medicine, Temple, TX, agreed, “The ACE process is very beneficial [because of] the external, unbiased evidence-based review.”
ACE accreditation improves quality processes for the CCL not only through improved documentation but also by increasing throughput through standardization. Yet the primary benefit, all physicians agreed, was the reassurance that ACE accreditation provides. “This is an insurance policy,” said David Wohns, MD, FSCAI, Spectrum Health, Grand Rapids, MI. “It’s a defensive move that offers protection against any kind of scrutiny. ACE allows you to improve your quality and make you less liable.”
Not only does an ACE certification show that the CCL is delivering the highest quality care, but also allows the lab… “to be recognized as a leader,” said Dr. Chambers. “With respect to outliers or issues within the laboratory that might lead to external investigations, [this] would certainly make accreditation pay for itself.” Speak with the experts at ACE to learn how you can begin your quality journey.
