Accusoft Adds Superior JPEG Compression to Image Processing SDK

(PRWEB) September 12, 2014 -- Accusoft, the leading provider of document, content and imaging solutions, announces today that it has released ImagXpress v13, an enhanced version of its software development kit (SDK) for empowering applications with selectable functions for scanning, image compression, viewing, annotation, printing and document cleanup.
A longtime leader in advanced image compression technology, Accusoft has added its patented, industry-leading JPEG compression functionality to ImagXpress in version 13. Now applications built with ImagXpress can make JPEG files more than 90% smaller, with little to no visible degradation in quality. ImagXpress gives developers programmable settings to control the amount of compression to apply, enabling applications that create or edit JPEGs to achieve an optimal balance between image quality and file size.
JPEG images compressed with Accusoft’s technology display more quickly than non-optimized ones, especially when viewed online. That’s a boon to web developers who want to speed up page loading on sites containing inline photographic JPEGs, especially for delivery to mobile devices where the constraints of 3G/4G networks can slow pages with unoptimized images to a crawl. According to research performed by Google, a web page that loads a quarter-second longer than a close competitor’s loses customers, and Google favors fast-performing pages over slower ones in determining page rankings.
Other enhancements in ImagXpress v13 include enhanced thumbnail generation and control, including drag-and-drop capability for thumbnail images. ImagXpress’s ISIS Xpress add-on for building a custom control interface for scanners compatible with the Image and Scanner Interface Specification (ISIS) standard has also been enhanced, with support for a broader range of scanner models and the ability to save compressed images directly to scanner memory.
