The award is the result of rigorous vetting by the USAF and multiple protests by non-winning entrants. Last May, with the original awards under protest, the USAF said that it would reevaluate proposals with an eye toward Trade Agreement Act compliance; make another request for final proposal revisions; and re-award contracts. But during the re-evaluation, USAF officials agreed not to issue another request for final proposals after all. Rather they chose to add eight additional contracts to the original eight.
Technology products specified in the contract include servers and storage, networking equipment, peripherals, software, multimedia and identity management/biometric hardware and associated software.
The USAF’s NETCENTS II (Network Centric Solutions II) contract is a suite of acquisitions that replaces the first NETCENTS initiative with seven individual contracts. NETCENTS II is designed to provide federal agencies that include the USAF and Department of Defense with a trusted source for standardized networking equipment, supplies and relevant services.
