Cary, NC (PRWEB) December 30, 2014 -- Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC) today announced plans for the expansion of its pharmacy program into Canada. The new PCAB Certification Program for Canadian Compounding is expected to be released in 2015 and will provide compounding pharmacies with an independent, third-party review of their practice. By achieving PCAB Certification, pharmacies will have the ability to demonstrate their commitment to delivering the highest quality compounded medications by complying with industry standards and best practices.
“ACHC has offered pharmacy compliance solutions in the U.S. for more than 28 years,” said ACHC CEO, José Domingos. “Our experience in the field makes us well equipped to offer the certification program. We look forward to working with Canadian pharmacies and are confident that the expansion of our program into Canada will provide an added measure of quality and safety assurance for physicians, payors, and patients alike.”
The certification program will assess the compounding process based on a specific set of standards that concentrate on the quality and consistency of medications produced. All surveys will be conducted with a consultative approach by qualified pharmacists that have extensive experience in the area of compounding. The process is designed to provide assurance of the quality and safety of compounded medications in the marketplace.
