Achieving Chapter Excellence (ACE) Awards Announced by Kappa Delta Pi
Indianapolis, IN (PRWEB) August 14, 2013 -- Kappa Delta Pi, International Honor Society in Education, is pleased to announce the 22 winners of the Achieving Chapter Excellence (ACE) awards for the 2011-2013 biennium. Established in 1995, the ACE Awards Program recognizes Kappa Delta Pi chapters that exhibit outstanding programming in support of the Society’s mission and strategic goals. Since its inception, chapters across the country have aspired to offer creative, purposeful programming and a full slate of chapter activities with the hope of earning this coveted award.
“Many chapters have exceptional programming. Others have fantastic leaders. Still others have active and highly involved members. It takes a very special chapter to excel at all three,” Carol Paddock, Program Manager of Leadership and Recognition, reports. “Of the more than 600 chapters worldwide, only 22 received the ACE award.”
KDP Chapters receiving the ACE award met stringent eligibility requirements. They held an initiation, submitted an annual financial report on time, planned and implemented meaningful programming, and attended a Society conference during the 2011-2012 or 2012-2013 academic years. All activities were explained with a narrative and accompanied by pictures. Applications were reviewed by a team of judges using a scoring rubric.
ACE Award recipients will be honored at Kappa Delta Pi’s 49th Biennial Convocation in Dallas, Texas, October 24-26, 2013. At that time, the highest-scoring chapter will be announced and will receive the Dr. Florence B. Stratemeyer Award for Chapter Excellence, named for an early First Vice President who, during her years of service, worked diligently to keep the quality of KDP chapters high. Many of these chapters’ officers will offer Healthy Chapters poster presentations while at Convo 2013.

Founded in 1911, Kappa Delta Pi is a dynamic learning community that recognizes and enhances growth in scholars and leaders. Chapters of Kappa Delta Pi, International Honor Society, represent the core of the Society through which members can readily connect with other members. For many educators, the university or college chapter is their first experience with Kappa Delta Pi. Dynamic chapters lead to a vibrant and strong Society.
Through national programs and expectations set forth by KDP, chapters develop opportunities for recognition, service, and leadership for their active members who are committed to advancing excellence in education. By being involved in their local chapter, members gain professional development experiences, leadership skills, service and networking opportunities, as well as resources and support to assist them as they step into their careers.
Chapters are affiliates of the Society. Individuals within affiliate chapters hold membership in the Society as well as their chapter or group. Accredited colleges and universities may become involved with KDP in two ways: by establishing a formal chapter or serving as a liaison. Both options bring distinction and recognition to the participating campus. Additionally practicing educators may join KDP and connect with other members in a Professional Chapter through their city, building, or school district.
