LITTLE ROCK, AR (PRWEB) July 29, 2016 -- The American Case Management Association (ACMA), in partnership with the National Board of Case Management (NBCM), is pleased to announce the completion and release of the 2016 Case Manager Practice Analysis Study.
The Case Manager Practice Analysis Study supports the content and design of the Accredited Case Manager (ACM™) credentialing examination. It guarantees that exam takers will be tested on current knowledge and competencies that Case Management professionals need to perform their jobs effectively. In addition to identifying the knowledge and job tasks performed by case managers, the report underscores the importance of Case Management as a profession in modern health care, patient outcomes, population health and related transitions of care.
The ACM™ is the industry standard for Case Management professionals and promotes industry-wide competency standards through a uniform national certification exam. Credentialed individuals must successfully complete both a multiple-choice component and a discipline-specific simulation component.
According to the 2015 ACMA National Case Management Survey, the only national source of 95% confidence level Case Management research, 66% of hospitals report that the ACM™ credential is influential in hiring decisions. Additionally, more than half (52%) of all hospitals prefer the ACM™ over all other case manager credentials, more than twice that of the next preferred credential.
ACMA holds the position that nurses and social workers with two or more years of health care system experience should have their ACM™ credential by December 31, 2016 to practice health care system Case Management. Thereafter, because new case managers need 24 months of health care system Case Management experience to be eligible to take the ACM™ exam, certification should be achieved by the 36th month of practice.
