LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (PRWEB) May 02, 2018 -- The American Case Management Association (ACMA) announces the following new members to its National Board for Case Management™ (NBCM) – the governing body for the Accredited Case Manager (ACM™) Certification.
• Stacy Wright, MSW, LCSW, MHA, MBA, ACM-SW, Senior Director of Case Management at Novant Health in Winston-Salem, NC, and NBCM Vice Chair
• Brenda Acri, BSN, RN, ACM-RN, Utilization Management Supervisor at UPMC Health Plan in Pittsburgh, PA
• Laura Benner, RSN, BSN, ACM-RN, Population Health Manager at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, PA
“The NBCM is excited to welcome three new members to our board,” said Michelle Allen, RN, ACM-RN, IQCI, Special Projects Consultant of Administration at HCA Healthcare in Nashville, TN, and Chair of NBCM. “All three members bring a variety of experience, including two registered nurses and one licensed clinical social worker with backgrounds in health plans, multi-system hospitals, Population Health and Community Care Management. With the ever-present changes in the world of Case Management, we are fortunate to continue to have well-rounded board representation.”
The NBCM’s responsibilities include developing and approving ACM certification content, testing and eligibility policies; conducting eligibility reviews; reviewing applicant certification appeals and rendering decisions; and recommending strategies or developments for the ACM™ Certification.
The ACM™ Certification was created by ACMA in 2005 and is designed specifically for health care delivery system and transitions of care case management professionals. This certification is unique among case management certifications because the examination tests core case management knowledge that is shared by nurse and social work case managers, as well as competency in the individual skills of each professional background. In addition, the exam utilizes clinical simulation testing methodology to test “competency beyond knowledge” – testing critical thinking skills and the ability to use knowledge in practical situations.
“The ACM Certification program’s growth and success are largely due to the support of organizations around the U.S. that recognize the importance of having more competent and engaged staff,” Allen said. “These organizations support ACM by making certification an integral part of their staff development.”
