LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (PRWEB) November 08, 2017 -- The American Case Management Association (ACMA) is pleased to announce that it has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations around the world to encourage philanthropy and celebrate generosity during the giving season.
#GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. This year, it will be celebrated on November 28 to kick off the holiday giving season. #GivingTuesday inspires people to take collaborative action to improve their local communities and to give back in better, smarter ways to the charities and causes they support. Millions of people in over 98 countries have participated in the movement.
“A major part of ACMA’s mission is to ensure that proper legislation, policies and regulations are developed that will positively impact the practice of case management and transitions of care,” said Andra Givens, MSN, MHA, RN, ACM and ACMA member. “Donations to ACMA made through #GivingTuesday will help support ACMA members as they advocate on behalf of our profession and patients nationwide.”
In hospital and health care systems, case management is a collaborative practice model including patients, nurses, social workers, physicians, other practitioners, caregivers and the community. The case management process encompasses communication and facilitates care along a continuum through effective resource coordination. The goals of case management include the achievement of optimal health, access to care and appropriate utilization of resources, balanced with the patient’s right to self-determination.
“Case management professionals serve as both guide and advocate for patients as they attempt to navigate a complex continuum of care – supporting those who are ill, injured and vulnerable every step of the way,” said Pam Foster, LCSW, MBA, ACM and President of ACMA. “Every day, case managers advocate on behalf of patients with medical staff, payors and even family members.”
#GivingTuesday demonstrates how every act of generosity counts, and that it means even more when we give together. Those who are interested in giving to ACMA’s #GivingTuesday initiative can visit http://www.acmaweb.org/givingtuesday.
