Activist Writer Wants To Shine A Light On Your Hidden Creativity To Inspire Other Struggling Talent
London (PRWEB UK) 18 November 2014 -- Writer, lecturer, community activist, Crib youth worker and motivational speaker, Emeka Egbuonu is about to release his first book in three years, a novel entitled ‘Ambitions of the Deprived'. He hopes the novel will inspire young writers to break the barrier of self-doubt, to help inspire their natural ambition regardless of their background. He says: "Writing and working with young people is my passion, and my ambition is to use my writing to inspire millions of young people."
Egbuonu founded the ‘Consequences’ program of seminars in 2009, aimed at 13-19 year olds - partly based on his observation of watching young people making the same mistakes over and over and hoping for a different outcome. His seminars equip young people with the confidence and skills to make positive choices and avoid becoming involved in gangs; for those already involved in that culture, the program helps them move on from that destructive cycle. The results from his work have led to his touring the UK, America and Europe to share the experiences.
Recently speaking on themes of choice and redemption at HMP Lindholme men's prison in Doncaster in October, Egbuonu is now gearing up to get undiscovered talent to participate in potentially life-changing competitions, leading up to the launch of his latest book, ' Ambitions of the Deprived', his first novel.
Egbuonu now wants to throw open opportunities for previously undiscovered talent, by launching a competition and online event between now and the publishing of his next book for creative types to participate in the book’s readiness for its release next Summer and support the success of other talented young people.
Artists and photographers are being asked to depict their interpretation of the title of the book ‘Ambitions of the Deprived' in whatever medium, so long as it includes images. The competition will run for 3 months on social media platforms Twitter, Facebook and Instagram culminating in an exhibition of the winner’s work at the official book launch, where industry specialist would be invited and an opportunity to get their work sold. Writers will receive a free copy of Ambitions of the Deprived’ if they tell their stories about their ambitions and failures and get them accepted as contributions to the website to accompany the book launch. Email Egbuonu’s team on what it means for you to be successful. Anyone whose blog is chosen and published on the website http://www.ambitionsofthedeprived.com will not just get great exposure, but receive a free advance copy of a book which could be a next best-seller.
His first book, 'Consequences: Breaking The Negative Cycle', released in 2011, was hailed as “Fantastic” and a must read for the Home Office and the Ministry of Justice by Professor David Wilson, director of Birmingham City university's centre for applied criminology. Since publication, Egbuonu has started to lecture in Maths and Personal Social Development at Barking and Dagenham College. He hosted a radio show for a year, as well as having directed two documentary films: ‘London to LA’, about gang intervention schemes in London and Los Angeles and a stop and search documentary looking at relationship between the police and young people in London.
