Actor Rainn Wilson Joins the Mona Foundation Board of Directors
Bellevue, WA (PRWEB) April 23, 2014 -- Mona Foundation supports grass roots educational initiatives and raising the status of women and girls around the world. It started in 1999 with three projects which supported 450 children. This year it celebrates 15 years of working with over 30 different projects in 14 countries serving tens of thousands of children and their families.
Mona Foundation is thrilled to kick off its 15th anniversary year by announcing the addition of Rainn Wilson to its board of directors. Wilson has been an ardent supporter of Mona Foundation since 2007, lending his talents, time, and resources to support the work of the foundation and help raise over half a million in funds. He joined the Mona Foundation board of advisors in 2011.
Of his support over the years, Wilson says “I believe education is the most important thing in the world. It all begins and ends there. That is what the foundation supports above all else. I wanted to support a place where basically every penny of a donation would go directly to making the world a better place. The Mona Foundation does that. I wanted to support a foundation that makes every person feel like they could make a difference in the world. Mona Foundation does that as well.”
Along with a long and successful history in acting, Wilson has been very involved in working with youth and junior youth through the arts. For the past four years he and his wife, Holiday Reinhorn, have hosted Profound Pizza, a biweekly arts, and service gathering for youth in their area. They also recently founded LIDE, an arts and empowerment educational initiative for adolescent girls in Haiti. In addition, Wilson co-founded the SoulPancake website, a website designed to encourage the investigation of deeper questions in life.

Founded in 1999, the Mona Foundation is a nonprofit organization that supports grassroots educational initiatives across the world. Its main objectives are to provide quality education to all children, to raise the status of women and girls, and to build community capacity in areas where its partner projects are located. The Mona Foundation achieves these objectives by giving 100% of designated funds, and 97% of general funds, directly to its projects impacting the lives of more than 50,000 children, women and their families. In addition, the Mona Foundation provides logistical and material resources, as well as technical trainings and strategic consulting for its projects. Some of the projects supported include a school for children of immigrant farm workers in California, a school in Haiti for street children, and a training institute in India that teaches women practical income-generating life skills. The Foundation is based in the Seattle area. For more information about Mona Foundation and the projects it supports visit http://www.monafoundation.org.
