Actress Kerry Cahill Partners with Help Heal Veterans to Support and Honor Wounded Veterans
(PRWEB) June 01, 2017 -- The award-winning actress, Kerry Cahill, who stars Diane on AMC’s The Walking Dead has joined forces with Help Heal Veterans to honor and support homebound, hospitalized, and recuperating veterans. Cahill said, “I believe in honoring and caring for the men and women who have served our country. We have a lot of veterans who need our help right now and Help Heal Veterans continues to be instrumental in improving their quality of life through the integration of craft kits into their treatment programs. I feel blessed to be a part of this campaign.”
HHV CEO, Joe McClain said, “We are very fortunate that Kerry has agreed to play an essential role in the Cahill wristband program. Kerry’s father lived his life by helping veterans obtain the assistance they needed, and now his wristband will continue that same legacy helping veterans receive therapeutic benefits from building it.”
The 46-year old non-profit has delivered thousands of kits each year. Veterans who have been recuperating from traumatic brain injuries, amputations, shrapnel wounds, memory loss, stroke or extreme weakness have benefited from working with these kits. The patients have shown improved self-esteem and a sense of accomplishment.
“Our new campaign was created to benefit even more veterans. We want each donor to participate in our program by building their own Cahill wristband, and we will send one to a wounded veteran at the same time,” continued McClain. “Whether you are a donor or a patient, both will be blessed by the experience. If the donor prefers to rush both kits out, we will be happy to accommodate that as well.”
About the craft kits: The craft kits help veterans both mentally and physically. It enhances the ability for veterans to take their minds off their injury and the past and creates an opportunity for them to live in the present. Feelings of accomplishment and a boost in self-esteem also augment veterans mentally. Physically the kits provide a substantial challenge that increases their mobility. Craft kits include projects like woodworking, leather, models, and a variety of needle crafts, among many others.
Help Heal Veterans, a nonprofit organization founded during the Vietnam War, supplies free arts-and-crafts kits to injured servicemen and women and U.S. veterans. Help Heal Veterans has distributed more than 29 million kits since 1971 from hundreds of craft categories. ###
