Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Students of ACTCM Score Above National Average on Certification Exam
(PRWEB) October 22, 2013 -- When it comes to preparing for the exam of the only nationally recognized certification available to qualified practitioners of acupuncture and Oriental medicine, the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Francisco ensures its students are ready to pass with flying colors.
At least that’s what the results of the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) exam, released on October 14, 2013, show.
Master of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine
Test takers from the Master of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine program at ACTCM scored well above the national pass rate average in all areas of the exam. They received a 100% pass rate in the categories of Acupuncture with Point Location, Biomedicine, and Foundation of Oriental Medicine, and an almost-perfect pass rate in Chinese Herbology.
“We are very proud of how well prepared our students were for the NCCAOM exam,” said Cameron Giles, communications coordinator of ACTCM. “A lot of hard work went into achieving this year’s above-average results and we hope to continue the trend for years to come.”
TCM Certification
ACTCM students consistently have some of the highest scores on California licensing and national exams – a fact that can be largely attributed to the emphasis the school places on hands-on clinical training in conjunction with the study of theoretical material.
This depth of understanding proves essential for receiving certifications such as the NCCAOM, which is one of the most well-respected and widely recognized qualifications available for TCM practitioners across the country. NCCAOM certification is a prerequisite for licensure in most states, and a requirement for any practitioner to have in 98% of states that regulate the practice of acupuncture.
“I’m not surprised by the high score on the exam,” said Michael Sano, director of student affairs and alumni relations. “Our students’ strong commitment to academics and scholoary support of each other assist them in mastering all aspects of Chinese medicine.”
ACTCM is one of the few Bay Area acupuncture colleges where students can be sure they receive the training they need to become licensed in their field. Winter quarter at ACTCM begins January 2014 and admissions are accepted on a rolling basis.
