(PRWEB) January 21, 2015 -- In the first 2 weeks of January, ACWA Power secured 350 MW of CSP in Morocco and 200 MW of PV in the United Arab Emirates. These latest achievements place the Saudi company as the leading solar developer in the region.
In Morocco, ACWA Power has been awarded the second phase of the 500 MW Ouarzazate project. In a consortium with the Spanish company SENER, they will construct two plants of 200 MW and 150 MW each. The first one (Noor II) will be a parabolic through CSP plant while the second one (Noor III) will be a solar tower CSP plant. Both plants will feature around 7 hours of storage, and should be in commercial operation in 2017.
ACWA Power is also leading the way in the United Arab Emirates since they were selected to build the 200 MW PV plant at Mohammed bin Rashid Maktoum Solar Park in Dubai. The highlight of this project is the 5.84 USD cents/kWh tariff that ACWA Power offered, being the lowest in the world for a PV plant.
“We have established ACWA Power as the leading renewable energy developer in the region, and this project demonstrates once again that we live up to our commitment of delivering reliable and sustainable electricity at the lowest kWh tariff,” said Paddy Padmanathan, President and CEO at ACWA Power.
Padmanathan will be leading a delegation that will be present at MENASOL 2015 (13-14 May, Dubai). Find out more about the conference and opportunities to meet ACWA Power here: http://goo.gl/PqDheg
