Ada Developers Academy Announces its Third Class of Women to Begin the Intensive Year-Long Program
Seattle, WA (PRWEB) April 28, 2015 -- Ada Developers Academy (“Ada”), a Seattle-based not-for-profit program offering tuition-free software development training for women, today announced that its third class of 24 women will begin the year-long coding program on May 4th. Additionally, Ada announced an Indiegogo campaign to raise $50K to fund an affordable loan program to help students with living expenses during their participation in the program.

Ada’s third class will begin its rigorous developer training program on May 4th. With a single digit acceptance rate, Ada’s new class is comprised of 24 highly-motivated women. These women will spend the next year learning cutting-edge technologies to successfully prepare them for their career change into software development.
Though Ada is tuition-free to students, it is a full-time commitment, making it difficult maintain full-time employment. Ada does require students to pay for their living expenses out of pocket. To help its current students cover these costs, Ada is currently raising $50K to fund an affordable loan program. Ada partnered with Craft3, a nonprofit lender, to develop an accessible and competitive loan program that will provide up to $12,500 to cover living expenses while enrolled in Ada.
Founded in late 2013, Ada has facilitated the placement of nearly 40 women in Puget Sound software companies to date. And by the end of 2015, Ada expects that it will have graduated and help placed 85 women programmers in successful software development positions. Ada recently spun out from its parent organization, the Technology Alliance.
Since inception, Ada has been met with overwhelming support from the region’s tech companies, who provide monetary sponsorship, actively engage as mentors, and teach hands-on experience through internships. Sponsor companies herald the program for not only creating skilled programmers, but for also providing a novel and effective way to combat gender imbalance within the tech industry. Over a dozen Puget Sound technology companies, including Expedia, Zillow, Amazon, Redfin, and Nordstrom, are currently sponsoring Ada students.
