Adacel Awarded US Air Force Tower Simulator System Sustainment Contract
Orlando, Florida (PRWEB) November 27, 2013 -- Adacel announced today that, following a full and open competition, Adacel has been selected by the United States Air Force (USAF) to continue to provide services in support of the USAF’s ATC Tower Simulator System (TSS) program.
The original contract to supply and support the acquisition of ATC tower simulators was awarded to Adacel by the USAF in 2002. Over 100 simulators were delivered by Adacel during the acquisition phase of the program and it remains the largest single contract for ATC simulators ever awarded. The TSS program has now entered the sustainment phase and with this new contract award Adacel will retain responsibility for the maintenance, support, and modernization for 99 TSS units at US Air Force, Air Force Reserve Command, Air National Guard, and US Marine Corps sites worldwide. Adacel estimates the value of the contract to be in the range of US$15-25M depending on the options exercised over the 5 year term. The program is sponsored by the Life Cycle Management Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.
Options over the 5-year term of the contract include services to provide and operate a Training System Support Center (TSSC), configuration management, a web-based integrated data environment, 24/7 on call support, hardware technical refresh, operator training, visual database updates, software engineering upgrades, TSS relocation when required, and routine maintenance. Under terms of the contract Adacel will maintain a TSS operational availability rating of at least 95 percent.
“We take pride in the confidence the USAF has extended to us for the continued sustainment of their TSS program,” said Seth Brown, Adacel CEO. “We have worked diligently for many years with the program office at Wright-Patterson and the many USAF ATC organizations around the globe to ensure they have the training tools necessary to achieve and maintain proficiency for their skilled controllers. We are honored to be continuing that relationship.”
Adacel’s ATC simulation systems have proven to be effective in the training of military and civilian air traffic controllers in the United States throughout branches of the US military, the Federal Aviation Administration and many US College ATC programs. The simulators are designed to provide air traffic controllers with realistic hands-on practice that reinforces learning and builds confidence from the basics of aviation phraseology and communications through the advanced skills required to achieve and maintain proficiency as a fully qualified controller.
