Advanta IRA Services Holds Seminar Explaining Why Investors Should Not Be Afraid of Alternative Investments
Largo, Florida (PRWEB) October 25, 2013 -- Since their creation, stock options all over the world have experienced tremendous success as well as epic failures. But, through it all, investments in stock have remained staple assets investors include in their retirement portfolios. However, investors have learned that diversity is a key component to successful retirement plans. “These investors have discovered the self-directed IRA and the vast amount of alternative investments these retirement plans offer to help build wealth toward retirement on a tax-free or tax-deferred basis,” says Jack Callahan, Managing Partner of Advanta IRA Services.
The list of alternative investments is quite lengthy and includes real estate, mortgage notes, tax certificates and liens, precious metals, LLCs, private placements, foreign currency exchange, futures trading, accounts receivable, oil and gas options and much, much more. In fact, alternative investments are so plentiful that instead of listing them all, the IRS created a short list of investments not allowed in a self-directed IRA: collectibles and life insurance policies.
It is not uncommon for individuals to feel some trepidation about trying something new, such as exchanging mutual funds for a piece of real estate or a private placement within an IRA. With that in mind, Advanta IRA Services of Largo, Florida is hosting a seminar to discuss the various types of investments clients have made with IRA accounts and the benefits that can come with these alternative investments. This seminar also covers disqualified persons, the potential pitfalls of investing, and give some examples of transactions that Advanta IRA’s clients have made. Additionally, Advanta IRA will explore how an IRA can be the borrower on a transaction and how leveraging an IRA is not as scary as it seems.
“The essential factor for success with self-directed IRAs and alternative investments is to invest in what the investor knows, within the realm of his or her own comfort zone,” says Callahan.
