Advanta IRA Services Presents Webinar to Discuss the Pros and Cons of Converting to a Roth IRA
Largo, Florida (PRWEB) November 29, 2013 -- Roth IRAs are considerably appealing for those who think their tax rate will be higher at retirement than it is today. Additionally, unlike traditional IRAs, contributions may be made after the age of 70 ½, and there are no required minimum distributions at 70 ½. In most instances, the amounts contributed may be withdrawn at any age with no tax liability.
When an individual reaches the age of 59 ½ years and the Roth account has been funded for at least five years, tax-free withdrawals can be taken of both contributions and earnings. "Roth IRAs are extremely flexible tools for all ages of investors. Investors are able to plan for retirement and are also able to withdraw funds without dire tax penalties," says Jack Callahan, Managing Partner of Advanta IRA Services.
For those who have thought about converting to a Roth IRA, this webinar addresses questions about why someone would convert to a Roth IRA, how the process works, and most importantly—when the conversion should be done. "Most individuals visit their tax preparer in January and February and miss the opportunity to possibly convert to a Roth IRA," says Callahan.
Additional topics include:
• The process of converting assets held within a tax-deferred IRA into a tax-free Roth IRA
• What the rules are for converting to a Roth IRA
• Conversion of assets in a self-directed IRA (such as real estate and mortgage notes) and the documentation needed to do so
Investors should consider attending this webinar in an effort to educate themselves on whether or not a Roth IRA presents a viable investment tool to add to their retirement portfolios. Participants will be able to ask questions during the webinar.
