Columbia, Maryland (PRWEB) September 30, 2015 -- Advantage Engineers, a leading provider of specialized engineering and consulting services, has announced the opening of its Western U.S. office located in metropolitan Denver, Colorado. Advantage joins its peers in technology and communications along the Denver and Boulder tech corridor. More specifically, Advantage’s Western U.S. offices are located at 295 Interlocken Boulevard in Broomfield’s Interlocken office.
The Western office specializes in telecommunications engineering and is led by Lori Sherwood. Ms. Sherwood has an extensive background in telecommunications, public policy, contracts and grants management, as well as high-level project management, government affairs and strategic planning. Her experience includes the co-development, co-writing and co-directing of the $115 million dollar federal broadband infrastructure stimulus grant for the “One Maryland Broadband Network” (OMBN) for the State of Maryland. Ms. Sherwood successfully managed the “Inter-County Broadband Network” (ICBN), a $100 million dollar sub-award of the OMBN.
“There’s so much activity within Colorado and other Western states as more and more communities look to grow their broadband capabilities,” explains Lori Sherwood, Regional Director for the firm’s Western Region. “There’s been a groundswell of demand for increased broadband connectivity and accessibility to the un- and underserved communities in the region. With that comes a high demand for the skilled engineers with a proven track record on our team. We’re uniquely positioned to provide services and technical expertise from project initiation through completion.”
Advantage Engineers has already gained significant traction in Colorado, providing customized and comprehensive needs assessment and feasibility studies for expanding local broadband services for infrastructure including middle mile and last mile connectivity solutions for communities in Colorado and beyond.
The new office is located close to the city’s center and to several key client locations in the region. Aptly nicknamed the “high-tech hub of the Denver metro area,” the Municipality of Broomfield has garnered national attention for industry business development. The Western office neighbors countless small and mid-size tech companies to large enterprises and provides access to a highly educated workforce in the region, including the nearby University of Colorado Boulder.
“The opening of the Western U.S. office is a key component of Advantage Engineers’ geographic growth strategy into the western United States,” said John McGrath, COO at Advantage Engineers. “Colorado offers great opportunity for growth because of the strong local economy, the expert workforce and quality of life that it provides. I am thrilled to have Lori apply her skills and experience as she leads this expansion.”
