Adventure Life Advises Visiting Machu Picchu Before Changes
(PRWEB) October 01, 2014 -- Machu Picchu, the legendary lost city of the Inca, is held sacred by Peruvians and deeply appreciated by visitors. If this destination is still on your "places to travel" list, you may want to start planning a trip now. The reason for urgency is a new airport projected to be operating in 2020. Visitors to Machu Picchu currently fly into the city of Cuzco, Peru as their home base. However, the Peruvian government recently signed a construction contract for a new airport just outside of the nearby village, Chinchero. The Cuzco airport has a limit of 2 million annual travelers which keeps the traffic of people in the area under control. However, the new facility will be able to serve 5 million people upon opening in 2020 and eventually 8 million travelers annually!
Peruvians and foreigners alike are deeply concerned this new airport could be detrimental to the local culture, character, livelihood, environment and the historical site of Machu Picchu itself. All of these potential changes could be strong incentive for travelers to make their trip plans soon.
“Visiting Machu Picchu sooner rather than later could be advantageous for travelers,” said general manager Jonathan Brunger. “Machu Picchu will always be magnificent, and that will not change. However, the crowds could potentially grow a considerable amount after 2020.”
The current rate for the Machu Picchu by Train tour starts at $1,775 per person. To see the details of the trip visit http://www.adventure-life.com/tours/machu-picchu-by-train-354.
