Advocates and Authors Joni Aldrich and Chris Jerry Announce Campaign of Advocacy For Those in Need of Healing from Loss
Winston-Salem, NC (PRWEB) December 28, 2015 -- With multitudes of charities soliciting for support during the holidays, Joni Aldrich and Chris Jerry, International advocates and co- authors of Advocacy Heals U: 15 Keys to Fast Track Results and Emotional Fulfillment (Motivational Press, 2015), announce their campaign to guide people towards healing from personal losses through the steps of becoming advocates for causes that inspire. While the authors support charity giving, they encourage and challenge families to think long term and direct their offerings towards causes that create passion and purpose for their family and community, ongoing.
Joni Aldrich and Chris Jerry believe that heartfelt charity begins with advocacy. The type of advocacy the co-authors practice and promote comes from personal experience, and often from an incident resulting in a personal loss. In their new, Pulitzer Prize nominated book ‘Advocacy Heals U’, the authors discuss causes that lead to a deep desire for becoming advocates and strategies that they have personally applied to heal and give back. Their book offers a blueprint for how to make a commitment and have ongoing dedication to serve in an advocacy role in communities.
“Chris and I found that our own personal advocacy outreach programs have helped in the healing process from our respective experiences of loss and grief. We now want to help others heal through finding, establishing and furthering their causes. Our book gives detailed steps towards becoming advocates. Deep purpose and passion usually comes from an experience of loss, or profound life event,” Aldrich explains.
Aldrich’s dedication to advocacy began when she lost her 45 year-old husband to a rare form of cancer. Their cancer journey was mishandled from the start, and Joni believes that was a direct road towards his demise. Her advocacy focuses on cancer and caregiving causes, believing that patients and their families must be empowered, alert, informed and involved in their medical care. "We no longer live in a world where a doctor and his/her nurse are all that is needed to save the patient."
Jerry’s advocacy mission began the day he lost his daughter Emily because of a preventable medical error. Jerry speaks to groups in medical facilities around the country about the real cost to families who have lost loved ones because of senseless errors, often by healthcare professionals who don't mean to do harm. Chris is driven to be a part of the solution for the 440,000 Americans that lose their lives each year from causes that range from medication errors to missed diagnoses.
The co-author’s viewpoint on effective advocacy, shared throughout their book, is based on an “event” (something that happens in life that is so critical it changes a viewpoint), the “need” (insights and information that evolve form the event), the “call” (an internal need to do something to facilitate a change in thinking, policy or procedure that led to the event) and the “advocacy” (speaking up or speaking out for a person, group or specific cause).
The co-authors discuss these strategies and offer guidance and information through their worldwide radio program ‘Advocacy Heals U’. For more information visit: http://motivationalpress.com/Advocacy-Heals-U. For media inquiries contact Diane at info(at)inspiredmc(dot)com
