AEM Releases Powerful Data Correlations for Interactive Achievement SGAs
RICHMOND, VA (PRWEB) March 31, 2015 -- Advanced Education Measurement recently released a new report and white paper that provide data analysis and support for the correlations between Interactive Achievement’s Virginia Student Growth Assessments (SGAs) and the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) assessments typically taken by Virginia students at the end of the school year.
The Virginia SOLs are the state mandated summative tests and are important for the divisions as they are used to measure student achievement and school success. Educators need reliable information on the progress of students in the months leading up to the SOL tests. Interactive Achievement offers the SGAs for Math, Reading, History, and Science and recommends that schools administer them twice; once in the fall and once in the spring to identify student strengths as well as gaps in student knowledge.
Recently, Interactive Achievement partnered with AEM to better understand the connection between the SGAs and their corresponding SOLs. Interactive Achievement, in partnership with AEM, released a report that summarizes the findings in the AEM white paper and provides guidance for educators when interpreting individual student SGA results.
“The correlations with the SOL outcomes are statistically significant, averaging 0.75 and higher. Correlations above 0.70 are considered very high in the testing world.
