African Well Fund Hosting 13th Annual Build a Well for Bono's Birthday Fundraiser
Schenectady, N.Y. (PRWEB) April 18, 2015 -- The African Well Fund (http://www.africanwellfund.org) is hosting the 13th Annual Build a Well for Bono's Birthday fundraiser (http://www.africanwellfund.org/Bono-Well-2015.html) April 14th– May 31 to benefit a water project that will serve ‘Health Huts’ in rural areas in Senegal. The project, which will be implemented by African Well Fund partner Africare (http://www.africare.org), aims to improve the healthcare delivery system in six villages in Senegal and will directly benefit 6500 people.
"It’s amazing looking back at all the projects through the years that have been funded with donations from fans all over the world," said Diane Yoder, African Well Fund board vice-chairman. "This will be the first project that we have funded in Senegal and the health huts play a vital role in improving maternal health. Unfortunately, too many of the health huts do not have a clean water source and we are thrilled to be able to change that for 6 communities. "
As always, all donors are invited to add their name and a message to a birthday card on the African Well Fund website (http://www.africanwellfund.org/Bono-Well-2015.html) that the organization will send to Bono upon completion of the fundraiser.
African Well Fund plans on holding another Tweet a Well for Bono’s Birthday, a 24hr Tweet-a-thon on May 10th. Details will be coming soon. Any volunteers wishing to assist with the Tweet-a-thon should email Diane Yoder at dyoder(at)africanwellfund(dot)org.
The 12 previous campaigns have raised over $235,000 in Bono's honor to fund the construction of clean water and sanitation projects implemented by AWF partner Africare that are benefiting more than 60,000 people in Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Liberia, Mali, Uganda and Zimbabwe.
The African Well Fund is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the mission of funding clean water and sanitation projects in sub-Saharan Africa. Since its founding in 2002, the organization has raised more than $1 million to fund 32 projects in 15 countries, benefiting more than 350,000 people.
