(PRWEB) February 17, 2016 -- On Tuesday, February 23, current and former service members with Afterburner, Inc. will deliver a unique transition preparation seminar for Fort Benning service members and military spouses. The Military Transition Seminar (MTS) is a day-long course created-and-delivered by veterans designed to equip service members with a strategic career transition plan that mitigates common challenges for transitioning veterans entering the workforce.
The MTS supports the current mandated transition preparation training known as SFL-TAP, complementing that curriculum with a hands-on, strategic workshop where service members are guided through strategic career planning by veterans who have made the successful transition to the civilian workforce. These Executive Consultants from corporate training and consulting firm Afterburner, Inc., a leadership development and management training company comprised of veterans who share their successful transition examples with MTS participants, and training them to do the same.
Since December 2013, the MTS has been delivered 21 times across 14 installations within the United States as well as international, equipping over 2200 veterans and their spouses with the insights and techniques to create more than 1900 transition and career development plans.
The seminar’s curriculum is based on "Down Range: A Transitioning Veteran’s Career Guide to Life’s Next Phase" (2013), a transition guidebook co-authored by Afterburner Founder & CEO, James “Murph” Murphy, and Director of Learning & Development, Retired Navy Cmdr. William M. Duke. As part of the seminar, each participant will receive a copy.
Leveraging the collective transition experiences of Murphy, Duke and Afterburner’s team of more than 50 veteran, Down Range introduces a unique transition perspective and provides a holistic approach for planning and achieving post-transition career success. Focused on a values-centric desired future state, then working backwards to the initial post-transition Course of Action, ensures the service member remains strategically aligned to their goals.
"This isn't just another briefing on what to do after you get out of the Army, it's a valuable tool to assist in the transition process. I will definitely recommend all of my soldiers to come to your briefings and my first sergeant plans on giving a similar brief to all of his platoon sergeants to brief to their transitioning soldiers." – SGT Matthew B.
The Fort Benning program takes place from 0715 EST to 1700 EST, is free of charge and open to all ranks and branches, as well as spouses. Dress is business casual unless duty dictates otherwise.
