Aftercare Options for Children Are Featured on "Behind the Scenes" with James Earl Jones for Public Television
(PRWEB) July 04, 2016 -- An informative segment of Behind the Scenes hosted by James Earl Jones will discuss aftercare options for children. Childcare experts and education professionals will weigh in as to why there is an increased need for these types of services for children and why they are important for a child's well-being.
According to the latest employment statistics for families, over 60% of families consist of two working parents. This statistic, along with the fact that the number of single-parent families have continued to increase in the last 20 years, has made it necessary for children to find after school care. To ensure that children are not at home by themselves, especially for those who are too young to do so, finding a place to go after school is becoming a necessity. Besides being a safe place for children to go after school, aftercare programs have many other benefits as well. Some such benefits include giving children the opportunity to learn new skills and keeping children from engaging in risky behavior after school which might include smoking or drinking. The problem is these aftercare options can either be hard to find or parents cannot afford to pay for some of them.
Behind The Scenes is created specifically for Public Television but is not released or produced by APT or PBS. Each segment gets distributed to television stations throughout the country. Award-winning actor James Earl Jones serves as host.
