Ahead of the Tide Launches a 10 Part Video Series Event Beginning February 15 Highlighting the Effects of Sea Level Rise and Climate Change in Florida
Gainesville, Florida (PRWEB) February 11, 2016 -- Ahead of the Tide is an independent movement launching a 10 part video series highlighting the effects of sea level rise and climate change through the stories and voices of local Floridians. Each short video (5 to 7 minutes) will showcase various aspects concerning sea level rise and will include interviews with scientists, engineers, politicians, conservation directors, educators, authors, and activists. Videos will be released every Monday and Thursday starting February 15 on aheadofthetide.org.
Ahead of the Tide was envisioned by CAVU (Calm Air Visibility Unlimited) founder and executive director, David S. Smith. While producing a video for Sea Turtle Conservancy last fall, Smith realized there was a much larger story to be told.
“CAVU’s special skill has always been its ability to capture unscripted “voices of the people.” As we traveled the state interviewing a wide cross-section of citizens I was constantly struck by Floridians deep abiding passion for their beaches, and at the same time their deep frustration at the lack of leadership dealing with Florida’s greatest problem.”
Manley Fuller, president and CEO of Florida Wildlife Federation said, “This is a critical issue. State government has got to engage on sound coastal policy and climate policy.”
David Godfrey, executive director of Sea Turtle Conservancy agrees. "If you want the right decisions made for Florida then you want the right people running Florida."
Ahead of the Tide’s goal is to create a movement where real conversations about sea level rise can take place across stakeholder groups leading to meaningful action conserving the future of Florida’s beaches.
