AIA Names Jay Day Vice President for State Affairs
WASHINGTON, D.C. (PRWEB) February 11, 2015 -- The American Insurance Association (AIA) announced today that Jay F. Day will assume the position of vice president of state affairs, Western region, effective March 9. Day joins AIA from California Assemblymember Jim Frazier’s office.
“Jay will make an excellent addition to AIA. We welcome him to AIA and are looking forward to benefitting from his expertise,” said Leigh Ann Pusey, AIA’s president and CEO. “Jay’s extensive legislative background makes him well-suited to achieve AIA’s public policy goals in the Western region which includes key markets such as California,” added Joe DiGiovanni, AIA’s senior vice president for state affairs.
“I am pleased to be joining the AIA team,” Day said. “I’ve long viewed AIA as an exceptional advocate for the property-casualty industry. I’m looking forward to working with AIA’s members as well as state regulators and legislators to promote an efficient and effective insurance marketplace.”
Prior to serving as chief of staff for Assemblymember Jim Frazier (D-Oakley), Day worked as a consultant in the Speaker’s Office of Member Services for former Assembly Speaker John Perez (D-Los Angeles). He has also served in various capacities for a variety of legislators in the California Assembly and Senate since 1994. Day, who will join AIA’s Assistant Vice President Steve Suchil in the association’s Sacramento office, will oversee AIA’s state affairs activities in the following states: Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington.
