AIC Announces the Release of Two New Object Storage Server Chassis
City of Industry, CA (PRWEB) March 31, 2015 -- AIC announces the release of its two new RSC-1C and RSC-1R storage server chassis. They are designed for data centers which run object storage applications.
Using Hadoop or Ceph appliances requires computing power as well as storage space from the data node. Depending on the applications being run, some may require more storage space and less computational power, while others require the opposite. The RSC-1C and RSC-1R chassis can easily handle such shifting storage and computing needs.
When it’s time to change a drive, there is no need to spend time powering down equipment in the data center, where downtime can lead to reduced efficiency. “With the RSC-1C or RSC-1R, they can simply hot swap the drives,” noted CT Sun, AIC’s Chief Architect. “The drive trays and top covers are made tool-less, which makes them a breeze to install at a moment’s notice. In short, these products help data centers save cost on services and total cost of ownership.”
Details of the RSC-1R and RSC-1C:
Both products feature high-density design to save data centers on space, which will ultimately lower costs.
The RSC-1R can load up to 8 hot swap drive in one drawer and supports up to ATX form factor motherboard. The RSC-1C can load as many as 12 hot swap drive in one drawer and supports up to E-ATX form factor motherboard.
Made from non-coated, heavy-duty SPGC cold-rolled steel, both products have a front panel for the power on/off and system reset controls. The LED indicators show the status of system power, local area network and the drive.
They both have anti-vibration materials on the fans and drive trays. To further absorb vibrations from the sides of the drive trays, AIC included silicon gaskets.
Further differentiating AIC’s data center products from the competition, both the RSC-1C and RSC-1R are equipped with high-end fans and power supplies to give customers a better return on investment. Data center owners and operators also appreciate the tool-less design that makes it easier and faster to install these products.
