AirPatrol Corporation Updates Wireless Location and Cybersecurity Platforms with New Line of Sensors
Maple Lawn, MD (PRWEB) January 28, 2014 -- Mobile locationing and cybersecurity firm AirPatrol Corporation today announced the release of a new family of sensors that provide improved locationing accuracy, more flexible deployment options, and extended range coverage for the company’s ZoneAware location-based services and ZoneDefense mobile cybersecurity platforms.
AirPatrol’s ZD3030 series sensors are paperback book-sized units that passively monitor for devices such as cellphones, tablets and mobile hotspots operating on 802.11 (a/b/g/n) WiFi frequencies as well as 2G/3G/4G cellular networks. The sensors can detect, locate and trace a device’s movements triggering mobile apps, delivering content, or engaging security policies as the device travels through hot zones as small as 6 feet (1.8 meters).
In addition to operating in a typical wired network setting as previous versions of the ZD sensors do, the new ZD3030s can now also be deployed as a wireless mesh grid which allows greater redundancy and improved coverage in areas where stringing network cable is often expensive or difficult.
“The ZD3030 generation is about delivering precision mobile locationing to places where it couldn’t go before,” said AirPatrol Chief Technology Officer, Dr. Guy Levy-Yurista. “With full spectrum coverage for both cellular and WiFi, and the ability to deploy wirelessly, these sensors will finally remove the dead zones and blind spots that are a problem in every structure whether it’s a shopping mall, industrial building or high rise,” he said.
ZD sensors are the hardware component of AirPatrol’s zone locationing and services platforms. The company’s cybersecurity product, ZoneDefense, is a mobile security platform that couples device detection and monitoring augmented with the ability to trigger 3rd party mobile device and network security applications based on the device’s owner and location within a monitored area. AirPatrol’s location-based services platform, ZoneAware, allows retailers, hotels and resorts, hospitals, universities, public venues and other properties to trigger mobile apps and deliver custom content to smartphones and tablets based on location and other contexts such as the venue, time of day and owner’s interests.
“Because mobile devices serve so many functions for us these days, the ability to run specific apps, enact security policies, and/or deliver relevant information as needed is quickly becoming a must-have thing,” Levy-Yurista said. “Our new sensors and zone security and commercial platforms are designed to deliver that wherever you are and whenever you’re there.”
AirPatrol will begin delivering the ZD3030 sensors to existing ZoneDefense and ZoneAware customers in early February. New installations will begin receiving the sensors by early March.
