Washigton D.C. (PRWEB) March 03, 2018 -- Akbar Ahmed - “Journey Into Europe: Islam, Immigration, and Identity” at Politics and Prose Sunday, March 4 in DC.
Allen Media Strategies' client is a man who just might hold the key to better relations with the Muslim world is a mere 22-minute drive down Massachusetts Avenue from the White House’s Oval Office.
His name is Akbar Ahmed and he’s a former Pakistani ambassador to Great Britain and Ireland, a distinguished professor at American University in DC and, in the words of BBC, “the world’s foremost expert on Islam”.
He will be signing his new book “Journey Into Europe: Islam, Immigration and Identity” at Politics and Prose bookstore from 5 to 6 pm Sunday, March 4.
Ambassador Ahmed believes he knows the key to the US having an understanding of the Muslim world, and thereby a path to reducing tensions and dispelling erroneous impressions about his faith.
What would he tell President Trump if he had 10 minutes alone with him in the Oval Office? “America needs to get back to what makes America great and only you, Mr. President, can do that.”
Sunday, March 4, 2018 - 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
5015 Connecticut Ave NW Washington DC 20008
In the latest of his studies examining relations between the West and the Muslim world, Ambassador Ahmed, author of Journey into Islam and Journey into America, draws on extensive discussions with people throughout Europe.
Traveling with a team of researchers, Ahmed, the Ibn Khaldun Chair of Islamic Studies at American University and the former Pakistani High Commissioner to the UK and Ireland, met with archbishops, chief rabbis, grand muftis, heads of right-wing parties, and ordinary people. His rich ethnographic approach to the increasingly tense relations between European and Muslim communities across the continent illuminates issues ranging from the refugee crisis and terrorism to controversies about veiling and general cultural misunderstandings.
This event is free to attend with no reservation required. Seating is available on a first come, first served basis.
