AKH and ArcheMedX Extend Collaboration to Improve Education for Nephrologists and Transplant Surgeons
(PRWEB) January 06, 2016 -- After two highly successful educational initiatives, ArcheMedX and AKH Inc., Advancing Knowledge in Healthcare (AKH), are pleased to announce an expanded collaboration with the pending launch of a new online educational series designed to improve the management of renal transplants. This innovative e-learning program will deliver a series of interactive web-based activities to nephrologists, transplant surgeons, and transplant centers utilizing the ArcheViewer, a data-driven e-learning and real-time analytics platform.
The first e-learning programs developed in collaboration between AKH and ArcheMedX, Clinical Trial Design And Implications For Translating Research Into Clinical Practice In Epilepsy and Psoriasis & Psoriatic Arthritis: Is There Common Ground, have enjoyed great success since launching earlier in 2015. For example, the Common Ground program continues to demonstrate high learner engagement levels and greater than 80% completion rates across the case-based activities. The success can be attributed to the more interactive nature of the online education and the nearly 700 learner actions taken by nurse practitioners and nurses during the program.
Interspersed throughout the cases are a series of educator notes and interactive polls designed by faculty to prompt learners to reflect and take action at the right moments, driving them to review additional related resources (i.e., journal articles, clinical studies, and practice tools) made available directly within the ArcheViewer. These “nudges” encourage learners to more actively participate throughout the e-learning activities, enabling them to absorb critical lessons more efficiently and move newly learned concepts into long-term memory.
Kelly Kraines, Vice President - Operations & Programming at AKH, explains, “We are delighted to expand our partnership with ArcheMedX. Their team understands AKH’s mission and utilizing the ArcheViewer to power our education helps to provide innovative continuing educational activities that truly enhance and augment healthcare professionals’ training and positively influence the care of patients.”
The new educational initiative in renal transplantation, The Rejection Guessing Game: Individualizing Calcineurin Inhibitor (CNI) Therapy to Manage Rejection in Renal Transplantation Patients, is supported by an educational grant from Astellas Pharma Inc., and scheduled to launch in early 2016 and will include 2 e-learning activities powered by the ArcheViewer. In addition to faculty nudges, this interactive education will engage clinicians by providing a suite of learning tools that enable them to:
- Take, sync, and archive their own notes
- Respond to in-lesson polling
- Set personal reminders with the click of a button
- Explore relevant resources collated by faculty
- Submit questions to faculty
Learning measurement is a cornerstone of the ArcheViewer’s approach to transforming e-learning. As learners take action and engage with content, real-time data is collected, analyzed, and presented back to planners and faculty. This approach enables the AKH team to rapidly assess the impact of the education and to refine content as needed over time. The result is a far more effective approach to online training that is designed to improve education over time and to coax reflection and recall of evidence-based lessons to clinical practice.
