Al-Anon’s Facebook Page Now in Spanish, and Coming Soon, in French
Virginia Beach, VA (PRWEB) January 28, 2014 -- Al-Anon’s presence on Facebook has generated a loyal following among those affected by a friend or family member’s problem drinking and interested in learning more about how Al-Anon can help. Until recently, this service was available in English only, under the name “Al-Anon WSO,” for Al-Anon’s World Service Office. In July, 2013, “Los Grupos de Familia Al-Anon OSM,” the Spanish version, became available from the Al-Anon WSO to more fully serve interested Facebook users. Coming soon in 2014, a French version will be available for French-speakers to join in the Al-Anon journey on Facebook.
“We are very pleased to be on Facebook, to provide strength and hope for anyone who is struggling with the effects of someone else’s alcoholism,” said Pamela Walters, Al-Anon WSO Information Analyst. “Now that we are expanding with a Spanish and French presence, we are excited to have the opportunity to communicate with an even broader and more diverse audience,” said Walters.
In the spirit of its Tradition of anonymity, Al-Anon does not accept comments on Facebook posts, as this may break the anonymity of its members. Walters said, “Visitors will find a comfortable and enlightening experience on Al-Anon’s Facebook pages. They will see anonymous quotations from people who are struggling with similar issues, as well as other resources. We welcome anyone to check us out, whether you are struggling with someone else’s alcoholism, or you know someone who is. Learn how Al-Anon can bring peace of mind, and new meaning in the lives of friends and families of alcoholics.”
