Alabama Auto Show Partners with Children’s of Alabama for Charity Preview Event Benefiting Racing for Children’s Program
Birmingham, Alabama (PRWEB) April 16, 2015 -- The Alabama Auto Show and Children’s of Alabama are partnering together for the annual Charity Preview event that will take place on Wednesday, April 29, at 6:30 p.m. at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex. The cocktail reception event is open to the public, featuring a live auction and a live performance by The Black Jacket Symphony. Proceeds will benefit Racing for Children’s, a program that helps to raise money for the Alabama Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children’s of Alabama. Tickets are $75 and must be purchased in advance online at alabamaautshow.com as tickets will not be sold on the night of the event.
“This is a fantastic event supporting an even better cause,” said Jennifer Whisenant, Executive Director of the Birmingham Automobile Dealers Association. “We’re really excited for this year; we’ve completely revamped the event to include great sample tasting opportunities from local businesses and a show by The Black Jacket Symphony, who will be doing a Led Zeppelin album performance in it's entirety!”
Local brewing companies, including Avondale Brewing, will be providing samples of their craft beer while local independent restaurants such as Chris Hastings’ Hot & Hot Fish Club will be providing sample tastes as well throughout the event.
The Black Jacket Symphony, known as the famous “symphony of our generation,” is a Birmingham-based musical group. They perform throughout the South and offer an extremely unique concert experience through recreating classic albums such as Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, and The Beatles. Each Black Jacket Symphony show features the album being recreated as a true symphonic piece coupled by the second set which features an incredibly light display with all the bells and whistles of a major rock and roll show.
In addition to the symphony performance and sample tastings, there will be a live auction comprised of items donated by area auto dealers with proceeds going to Racing for Children’s. Some of these items include trips, sports memorabilia, vehicle accessories, etc. A group from the Birmingham Automobile Dealer Association dealers adopted red Radio Flyer wagons, sponsored by Cars.com, to fill with various auction items. The auction will be emceed by the JOX Roundtable team.

The 2015 Alabama Auto Show will take place at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention center April 30 – May 3. Doors open for the event on Thursday, April 30 at 12 p.m. Tickets for adults are $12, $6 for children ages 6-11 and free for children under 6 years of age. The event will showcase 2015 model year domestic and import cars, light trucks, SUVs, and hybrid vehicles of all sizes.
