Alabama Football Tickets for Sugar Bowl against Oklahoma Released at i-Deal Tickets
Tuscaloosa, Alabama (PRWEB) December 28, 2013 -- For most teams, an 11-1 record and a berth in the Allstate Sugar Bowl would represent a massive success.
For Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban and fans with Alabama football tickets, the 2013 season was a slight step back.
After winning the past two BCS Championship games, and three of the last four national titles, ‘Bama fell just short of their ultimate goal this season, losing to archrival Auburn in heartbreaking fashion in the final game of the regular season. However, the No. 3 Crimson Tide earned quite the consolation prize with their showdown with the No. 11 Oklahoma Sooners in New Orleans on January 2.
“Alabama and Oklahoma are truly two of the biggest college football superpowers in the history of the sport,” said i-Deal Tickets marketing manager Brent Larsen. “It’s not often that you get a matchup of two teams with a combined 17 national titles in the modern era.”
The Sugar Bowl will mark the final game in the brilliant career of Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron. The Heisman runner-up is already the school’s all-time leader in passing yardage and touchdown passes, and can add one final victory to his ledger with a win in New Orleans on January 2.
“I don’t think there is any question that AJ McCarron is the greatest quarterback in school history,” Larsen said. “If nothing else, fans with Alabama football tickets should come out to the Superdome to thank McCarron for guiding them on one of the greatest runs in modern college football history.”
LB C.J. Mosley has meant nearly as much to the defense as McCarron has to the offense, and will look to close out his career with the Crimson Tide in style. Several other talented underclassmen, including standout LT Cyrus Kouandjio, S Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and OLB Adrian Hubbard, could also be playing their final game in crimson and white.
The Crimson Tide will focus their defensive efforts on shutting down the Sooner running game, as Oklahoma finished the regular season as the 18th-ranked rushing attack in the country. The Sooners will be without second-leading rusher Damien Williams, who was kicked off the team in late November, placing more of the offensive burden on senior Brennan Clay. OU will probably use a two-quarterback system against Alabama, with Blake Bell serving as the main passing QB and Trevor Knight utilizing his mobility to give an additional spark to the running game.
The Sooners have been up and down defensively, but they did fare well against the explosive Oklahoma State offense in the final game of the season. However, they have not faced an offensive line as talented and physical as Alabama’s standout group, so look for the Crimson Tide to pound away with the run game to set up McCarron and the play-action passing attack.
Many fans with Alabama football tickets are probably disappointed that they will not be in Pasadena on January 6 for the championship game. However, there are many more fans across the country that are envious of the position that Saban and the Crimson Tide are in this season. While not as successful as the previous two seasons, there is no question that the 2013 season was a rousing success for Alabama football.
