Alert Software DeskAlerts Stresses Importance of Video in Business Communications
(PRWEB) April 21, 2015 -- A web-based solution for businesses large and small looking to streamline employee communications, DeskAlerts has championed the incorporation of video messaging since its inception. It recently published a top tips guide for companies new to video messaging with the aim of getting more of its clients up and running with the medium. The guide, which is available free to all DeskAlerts clients from its website in the form of an Infographic, sets out how and why boardrooms should adopt video messaging as part of an existing employee and wider corporate communications manifesto.
The Infographic highlights the importance of creating a video culture with DeskAlerts spokesman Anton Vdovin saying that as with any organizational change, a top down bottom up approach works best: “In order to really embrace video and get the benefits of using it alongside pre-existing messaging formats, it must have early adopters within the top levels of the C-suite and also be embraced by those further down the company hierarchy.
“Creating a video culture is not something that will happen overnight of course but, by embedding the format within the fabric of the business, encouraging, incentivising and facilitating video messaging, it’s possible to really enhance internal communications and more importantly, deliver notifications in a way that employees can quickly and easily process.”
The second tip covered on the video messaging guide plays up the creative angle, with DeskAlerts suggesting that employees be empowered to create their own video messages to communicate with colleagues. “Enabling employees to participate in the creative process is a sure fire way to win buy-in,” advised Vdovin.
Finally, DeskAlerts highlights the flexibility of the medium, suggesting that those businesses adopting video messaging take every opportunity to use video for different types of communication. “Video lends itself so well to news and information that it can be used really effectively across a whole range of notification types,” Vdovin added. “From employee of the month announcement to sales updates, product demonstrations, minutes of meetings, sales and marketing presentations, implementation of new processes and procedures and even introductions of new members of staff, video can be used across any number of business units.”
ECO, an open data platform for elearning funded in part by the European Commission, focuses extensively on the benefits of video by teaching and learning purposes, suggesting that even areas such as staff training and seminars could benefit from a video messaging function.
Research shows that support for the implementation of video is building at an executive level with 80% of executive watching more videos online now than they did a year ago according to Forbes Insights. The study found that, “Three-quarters (75%) of executives surveyed said they watch work-related videos on business-related websites at least weekly;”
An article in business magazine Entrepreneur also concluded that video is more impactful in many instances than text alone. It cites statistics that consumers are more likely to share videos than text, and are more likely to interact with video than text when viewing a website.
Vdovin concludes, “There are many powerful reasons for incorporating video messaging and our research all points to the fact that many of our customers share this view. We have more and more corporate communications being delivered by video every day and we expect this to continue to grow.
