ATLANTA (PRWEB) February 17, 2018 -- Fifteen hundred higher education professionals gathered this week to learn about trends and best practices at the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District III Annual Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. Alexander Haas was the presenting sponsor for the conference and among the experts presenting were two partners from Alexander Haas, who covered two essential fundraising topics: how to ask donors for contributions and what motivates them to give.
Arthur Criscillis, Managing Partner at Alexander Haas, spoke to a standing room only crowd at a breakout session entitled, “The Art of the Ask”. The two-part session addressed the key elements of working with individual prospects, from getting the first appointment, developing the strategy and soliciting the gift, to handling objections and closing.
Criscillis recently led a team from Alexander Haas in providing counsel for Auburn University’s Because This is Auburn $1 billion campaign. With his strategic counsel the campaign goal was reached 16 months ahead of schedule.
“Arthur made a real point of embedding himself in the organization to ensure that he fully understood what our institution is all about-our priorities, our culture, our ethos and how our alumni, friends, donors, parents engage with the institution. From that, he derived his approach in helping us be successful in building a campaign plan, a strategy and particular principal gift approaches with alumni and prospects who have the capacity to partner with the institution in significant ways,” said Jane DiFolco Parker, Vice President for Development and President of the Auburn University Foundation.
John Taylor, Partner at Alexander Haas, addressed CASE conference participants on what motivates donors to contribute during a lively presentation entitled, “Why Should We Give to Them Again – Or at all?” As the fundraising world is becoming increasingly competitive, Taylor urged universities to be intentional about providing meaningful recognition events, student stories, and detailed impact statements for donors.
Alexander Haas has provided fundraising counsel for nearly 200 colleges and universities and has been involved in the CASE District III Annual Conference for over 20 years.
