The brain is a highly complex organ made up of billions of cells called neurons. Neurons send and receive messages to and from all parts of the body. These messages are electrical impulses that create brain waves. The brain map (also called a neuro map) is an important tool we use to evaluate your brainwaves and identify opportunities to improve communication between various regions of the brain. The brain map is able to capture a window of brain activity, analyze the data, and create a visual representation for each lobe of the brain and each specific brain wave (Delta, Theta, Alpha, Beta). Brainpaint allows for us to localize where the imbalances in brainwave activity are so that we can better interpret how it is affecting your health and so that we can stimulate the brain where it needs it most.
How Does The Evaluation Work?
Using a sensors placed on the scalp & an extensive evaluation, our software captures the electrical impulses in the brain. This method is known as an electroencephalogram (EEG). The results show brain wave patterns in different parts of the brain. The process takes about 30-45 minutes, and the data is then converted into a visual brain map report. analyzing the brain map report and identify any problem areas comes first. The Brainpaint literally tells why a patient is experiencing neurological symptoms and what specific areas of the brain need to be worked on to support that patient.
How Does Neurofeedback Work to Change the Brain?
Neurofeedback is like learning to ride a bike. If someone explains how to ride a bike, you would still not be able to hop on a bike and go for a ride. Our brain learns from experience. In the case of riding a bike, gravity gives our brain feedback about how we are doing/balancing. As were continue to actively fire these pathways the brain develops new neural pathways that eventually lead to our ability to efficiently balance on the bike. Once this pathway has developed in the brain you know how to ride a bike and you are not going to forget how to. Neurofeedback works with this same principle. Once we have identified the brainwaves that are misfiring we want to help the brain stop firing that brainwave inappropriately. To do this we actively monitor the brainwaves while also giving the brain a form of stimulation (i.e. watching a movie). Anytime the brain fires an inappropriate brainwave the picture and the sound of the movie fade away, giving feedback to the brain that it is firing in a pattern that are unwanted. This type of training is termed ‘operant conditioning’. The brain does two things very well: (1) Pattern Recognition and (2) Reward Responses. Neurofeedback uses these principles to train the brain to fire in a more efficient, balanced manner. The great thing about this type of brain therapy is that like riding a bike, once these patterns are changed it should have a permanent, lasting effect!
