All Aboard for Romance at the Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad
Elbe, Washington (PRWEB) January 29, 2014 -- Saturday, February 15, romantics can climb aboard the Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad Valentine’s Express. Passengers will ride in vintage 1920’s era passenger cars pulled by a 1950’s era F9 diesel-electric.
“There’s something romantic about a train ride and the nostalgia of a bygone era. Normally we offer steam powered adventures but for this special event we’re rolling out our celebrity locomotive the F9,” says Meilee Anderson, Director of Sales and Marketing for the railroad. The F9 has local history in the region operating out of Auburn for Burlington Northern in the 70’s and upon joining the Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad collection made it’s big screen debut in the 1980’s film “Runaway Train” starring John Voight and returned to the silver screen for the 1990’s family film “Born to Be Wild” directed by John Gray. In October of 2013 the engine was featured in an international television commercial for Marmot brand clothing and outdoor gear.
Passengers can see the Northern Pacific #7012A F9 Diesel Electric in action at the MRSR depot located in Elbe, WA. Passengers will travel thru the forest and foothills south of Mt. Rainier and over the Upper Nisqually river. Each excursion offers a 90 minute to 2 hour experience before returning to Elbe, WA.
