New York, NY (PRWEB) August 26, 2015 -- Marlee Matlin, Oscar award winning actress with a dual role in the upcoming Spring Awakening revival on Broadway, celebrated her 50th birthday with friends and fellow Broadway actors at Frames Bowling Lounge on Ninth Ave at W40th St, on Monday night.
A small group of Marlee’s fellow cast members and friends checked into the exclusive VIP lanes at Frames at 7pm and stayed well past 11pm, with over 100 well-wishers coming and going all night, including a the entire team from Spring Awakening and many other Broadway shows, including most of the cast of Matilda The Musical.
Paige Davis (host of Trading Spaces on TLC) was also there to celebrate Matlin's Birthday.
Davis' husband stars alongside Matlin in the upcoming Spring Awakening revival. The entire cast and creative were present, including the director and producers. They were all very kind, and the server comped the group a brownie martini for both birthday celebrants; Matlin was celebrating a joint birthday with her young costar Austin P. McKenzie, who will play her son Melchior Gabor onstage.
Since half of the cast are deaf actors, her friends sang and signed happy birthday. The group was extremely easygoing; bowling while sipping on Margaritas and craft beers. The server recalled Marlee being super nice, and flashing her signature smile the whole time.
She tweeted an image of her and fellow cast member Mr. McKenzie holding up bowling balls with caption - @MarleeMatlin: I have a half hour left to wish my @SpringBway “son” aka Melchior Gabor aka @austinthoughts a Happy Birthday - too!!
Ms. Matlin will play Frau Gabor — mother to the young protagonist, Melchior — as well as Frau Schmidt. In this production, Melchior’s best friend, Moritz, is also deaf, and Frau Gabor “serves as a role model and source of compassion and inspiration” to him, according to Ms. Matlin, as told to the NY Times.
