All Traffic Solutions Named Second Place Winner of the Transportation and Mobility Hackathon Sponsored by Fairfax County and the Virginia Department of Transportation
Herndon, VA (PRWEB) November 30, 2017 -- All Traffic Solutions, the leader in cloud-based traffic management solutions for law enforcement, transportation and smart cities, was named Second Place Winner in the Transportation and Mobility Hackathon, which was held on November 16–17, 2017. The event was designed to create innovative technology solutions to improve traffic congestion, safety, mobility, and technology associated with automated and connected vehicles. The All Traffic Solutions team was recognized for its innovative solution that leverages traffic-related and non-traffic related data sources to identify, rank and classify Virginia intersections for safety, in order to reduce the number of crashes and make roads safer and less congested.
ATS distilled their findings into a simple, crash safety metric that characterizes locations against similar location cohorts. By leveraging the insights gleaned from this data intelligence, VDOT can prioritize resources more efficiently, communicate with drivers and pedestrians via conditional messaging notifications, redirect traffic flow to alleviate congestion, improve guidelines to create lower risk intersections, and produce time- and condition-responsive predictive heat maps for more informed decision making.
In observance of Giving Tuesday, the All Traffic Solutions team will donate their prize money. “In keeping with our mission to create healthier, happier cities, ATS has pledged our winnings to DC Rape Crisis Center, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to creating a world free of sexual violence through conscience and action,” said Inga Broerman, Chief Marketing Officer for All Traffic Solutions. “The leader of the ATS Hackathon team, Brendan Freehart, is an active volunteer with DCRCC, and we wanted to acknowledge his hard work on their behalf, as well as his contribution to our winning solution.”
