Allegheny Health Network and Emergency Medicine Physicians Form Joint Venture to Provide Emergency Department Care and Management
Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) April 03, 2014 -- Allegheny Health Network and Emergency Medicine Physicians (EMP) announced today the formation of a joint venture to manage the emergency departments at eight hospitals in western Pennsylvania.
The joint venture, named Allegheny Health Network Emergency Medicine Management, LLC, will manage the emergency departments of four new sites owned by the Network, including Allegheny General Hospital and West Penn Hospital, both in Pittsburgh, PA; Canonsburg Hospital in Canonsburg, PA; and Saint Vincent Hospital in Erie, PA.
The joint venture will also manage the emergency departments at the Network’s Forbes Hospital in Monroeville, PA; Allegheny Valley Hospital in Natrona Heights, PA; and the Allegheny Valley Outpatient Center in New Kensington, PA; as well as at two independent hospitals; Highlands Hospital in Connellsville, PA; and Jameson Hospital in New Castle, PA.

An industry leader and innovator in emergency department management, EMP is one of the largest physician-owned emergency department groups in the United States. The group was founded in 1992 by practicing emergency medicine physicians who had a vision for creating a better way to deliver emergency medicine care, Dr. Bagnoli said.
Allegheny Health Network is a western Pennsylvania-based integrated healthcare delivery system that consists of eight hospitals and multiple outpatient care centers. Each year, nearly 300,000 patients seek care at the Network’s emergency departments, which are staffed by a team of approximately 110 emergency medicine physicians.
The Network was formed in 2013 to provide the region with a high quality, more accessible and affordable option for advanced healthcare services.

Bruce MacLeod, MD, Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine at West Penn Hospital, has been appointed president of Allegheny Health Network Emergency Medicine Management, LLC, which will focus exclusively on enhancing and coordinating emergency patient care in the Western Pennsylvania region.
The joint venture is effective April 1, 2014.
